Hey! Nice to see you!
At Incubly, we believe that great people want to work with great people. We build teams and environments where talented engineers can grow, create meaningful solutions, and enjoy the journey together. Our mission is to support tech companies and scaleups in growing their teams quickly and with quality, while boosting product development, testing, and deployment.
We are looking for a Cloud & DevOps Architect to lead architecture and technical delivery across complex client engagements in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, Platform Engineering, Disaster Recovery and API Management.
The role will initially combine two types of engagements:
-
a strategic AWS Disaster Recovery and Infrastructure as Code programme for a large company from the media and entertainment sector;
-
post-sales professional services engagements delivered together with a global API Management company, supporting different customers in deploying and operating cloud-native API platforms.
This is a customer-facing and strongly hands-on architecture role. You will lead discovery and design, facilitate difficult technical and delivery discussions, coordinate engineers and stakeholders, and remain directly involved in implementation and troubleshooting whenever needed.
You should be comfortable moving from a client workshop or architecture discussion to reviewing - or creating - a Terraform module, Helm chart, CI/CD pipeline or Kubernetes configuration.
You will often work in environments where requirements, ownership, dependencies and timelines are not fully clear. An important part of your role will be to bring structure to ambiguity, challenge assumptions, obtain missing decisions and inputs, remove blockers, and maintain delivery momentum.
Your key responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead and trusted advisor for client engagements, leading discovery across cloud infrastructure, applications, data, integrations, security, observability and operations.
- Turn ambiguous requirements into architecture decisions, delivery scope, phased plans, estimates, dependencies, risks and acceptance criteria.
- Lead difficult client discussions, challenge assumptions, secure the decisions, access and input required from client teams, and maintain delivery momentum despite uncertainty or delays.
- Coordinate engineers, client teams and subject matter experts across parallel workstreams; translate architecture into implementable work, review technical deliverables and remove blockers.
- Design resilient AWS and Disaster Recovery architectures covering high availability, cross-region or cross-account recovery, backup and restore, replication, failover, failback and RTO/RPO trade-offs.
- Define Terraform and Infrastructure as Code foundations and governance, including repositories, reusable modules, state management, multi-environment configuration, CI/CD, drift detection and safe brownfield adoption.
- Design cloud-native API Management platforms based on Gravitee, Kubernetes and Helm, including topology, scaling, networking, security, storage, observability and upgrade strategies.
- Define controlled Git-based delivery workflows for infrastructure, platform components, API definitions and API Management configuration.
- Remain hands-on by creating or reviewing Terraform code, Helm charts, Kubernetes resources and pipelines, building proof-of-concepts and troubleshooting complex cross-layer issues.
- Lead Disaster Recovery exercises, restore and failover tests, and platform readiness reviews; evaluate actual results, RTO/RPO deviations and required improvements.
- Prepare architecture documentation, ADRs, technical standards, runbooks and test reports, and lead technical handover and client enablement, including occasional support at client sites.
We need you to have
- Extensive experience as a Cloud, DevOps or Platform Architect, or as a Lead Engineer in production environments, combined with current hands-on technical capability.
- Proven customer-facing consulting or Professional Services experience, including independently leading discovery, architecture and post-sales technical delivery.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to lead difficult discussions, challenge assumptions and explain technical trade-offs.
- Proven ownership, technical leadership and coordination skills in multi-team or multi-client environments with incomplete information, changing priorities and external dependencies.
- Deep hands-on knowledge of AWS architecture and production infrastructure, including networking, IAM, KMS, secrets management, resilience and operational security.
- Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code expertise, including reusable modules, state management, multi-environment design, imports, state migrations, CI/CD and brownfield adoption.
- Practical experience designing and validating high availability and Disaster Recovery for stateful workloads, including backup and restore, replication, failover, failback and RTO/RPO.
- Strong production experience with Kubernetes and Helm, including networking, ingress, RBAC, secrets, storage, scaling, upgrades and troubleshooting.
- Good understanding of API Gateways, API Management platforms and integration architectures; hands-on Gravitee experience would be a strong advantage.
- Experience with CI/CD, Git-based delivery, security controls, monitoring and observability, and troubleshooting across infrastructure, platform and application layers.
- Ability to prepare clear architecture and operational documentation, professional working proficiency in Polish and English, and willingness to travel occasionally.
It would be great if you also have
- Strong experience with Amazon EKS and the surrounding AWS networking, security and load-balancing services.
- Experience designing multi-region or cross-account Disaster Recovery architectures in AWS.
- Experience migrating infrastructure from CloudFormation or manually managed AWS resources to Terraform.
- Hands-on experience with API platforms, including platform architecture, deployment, configuration, upgrades or troubleshooting.
- Experience with Kubernetes Operators.
- Experience with event-driven and streaming architectures based on Kafka, Amazon MSK, Kinesis or similar technologies.
- Experience with policy-as-code, Infrastructure as Code validation and security scanning tools such as OPA, Checkov, tfsec, TFLint or similar.
- Experience with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
- Knowledge of API security, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, identity providers and certificate-based authentication.
- Experience working in regulated environments or projects with formal security, compliance or audit requirements.
- Experience mentoring Senior Engineers or acting as a Technical Lead across distributed teams.
- Experience supporting technical scoping, estimation and planning of Professional Services engagements.
What you can expect from the role
- A highly autonomous, customer-facing role with real responsibility for architecture and technical delivery.
- A combination of strategic architecture work and practical engineering rather than a purely advisory position.
- Exposure to both a large, long-running cloud transformation programme and multiple short term consulting or professional services customer engagements.
- Work across different client environments, architectures and operational models.
- The opportunity to influence cloud, DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, Disaster Recovery and API Management standards.
- Close collaboration with Senior DevOps Engineers, Platform Engineers, client architects, infrastructure teams, security teams and application owners.
- Direct involvement in taking solutions from discovery and architecture through implementation, testing and operational handover.
- The opportunity to shape Incubly’s Cloud, DevOps and Platform Engineering Professional Services capabilities.
- Occasional travel and collaboration with distributed teams and customers across different locations and time zones.
